Stone & Wood

Stone & Wood, a high-profile leader in the Australian brewing industry, required a specialist fabrication partner to deliver cohesive signage solutions across their primary manufacturing plant and their Melbourne subsidiary, Fixation Brewing. Over a long-term partnership, Shogun Signs & Print has also developed numerous point-of-sale items designed to meet the strict sustainability requirements central to the Stone & Wood ethos. Our mission was to translate their brand concepts into durable, real-world items that remain in harmony with their environmental values.

The Challenge: High-Impact Fabrication on a Strict Timeline

The primary challenge focused on the Murwillumbah manufacturing plant, where we were tasked with creating a substantial timber feature sign to be integrated into the existing site structure. We needed to achieve two competing goals simultaneously:

  • Large-Scale Engineering: The project required a 4m x 2.4m feature piece with a 2m return, demanding significant structural integrity.
  • Rapid Delivery: The entire project, from material sourcing to final installation, had to be completed within a non-negotiable five-day timeframe.

Solution: Sustainable Sourcing and Modular Engineering

Our team at Shogun Signs thrives on high-pressure briefs that require creative problem-solving and technical expertise:

  • Reclaimed Material Integration: To align with the client’s sustainability goals, we sourced local hardwood timber by recycling old fence palings. These were planned and treated specifically for UV exposure to ensure the sign’s resilience in the Northern Rivers environment.
  • Custom Steel Framework: We engineered a custom steel support system to provide the necessary structural skeleton for the heavy timber facade and its 2m return.
  • Modular Construction: To meet the tight deadline and ensure a smooth fit-out, we constructed the sign in several modular pieces. This allowed for precision application of the painted hop leaf detail and the 3D logo before an efficient on-site assembly.

The Outcome: Exceeding Expectations Under Pressure

The finished feature piece fit perfectly into the designated space, serving as a high-impact landmark for the Murwillumbah plant. This “all hands on deck” project was delivered strictly within the five-day window, exceeding the client’s expectations for both speed and quality. Our ability to solve complex logistics while maintaining a commitment to sustainable materials has solidified our role as a trusted partner for Stone & Wood across the Northern Rivers and beyond.
